I’m an independent creative director and editorial designer based in London. I mainly design books and magazines. I believe in close collaboration between editor and designer to enrich the reader’s experience, and have a particular fondness for illustrated non-fiction titles.
I started my career in 2002 working for Vince Frost, before co-founding Studio8 Design in 2005, which I ran with Matt Willey for 7 years, before going it alone to focus on my love of books and teaching.
I am a regular lecturer at Kingston School of Art, where I am constantly kept on my toes by a talented and inspiring cohort of young designers. I also run the BA Graphic Design Incubator initiative – identifying and helping realise the social and economic potential of students’ projects. Essentially getting ideas inside Kingston out into the world and kickstarting a few creative Startups. If you’d like to know more about the projects that have come out of Incubator, how the programme works, and the relationships we’re developing with Industry, please do get in touch.
If you have an editorial project you’d like to discuss, please email me: zoe*at*zoebather.co.uk.
